There was once my teacher said that this fish, Dugong, was found very very far in the middle of the ocean/sea. Many fisherman or other people who go out to the sea usually see this.

But they mistake them for mermaids because of the way their body is shaped. And also because its in the middle of the ocean/sea, the people on the boats will be a bit dizzy or seasick and so they mistake these creatures.. But seriously, I don't know how that word "mermaid" came about. :3
